That's right, SHPU Art Shanks has just released and is now here, and man am I excited for
this guy as this is a dream figure for me.
SHPU Art Shanks.
It's surreal it exists.
Like when Tamashi first posted the promos, I couldn't believe it, but there they were
and they were showing off some pretty peak stuff and I was instantly hyped as the figure
looked pretty damn good.
But as I looked more at the promos, I got a little worried because the promos showed
off many things that could make this a not so good release, such as the ab crunch, single
jointed knees, and elbows to me that looked weird, so I was definitely skeptical about
just how good this guy would be.
And with them now being in our hands, let's see if any
my skepticisms are true or not.
Starting off with the packaging, this set comes in a brown shipper cause it was a web
exclusive in Japan, but in America it's not so don't worry.
Then the actual figure box looks really damn clean.
It's a red and white color scheme that is layered with the matte background that every
one piece SHF release gets.
Then we can see the figures inside and some neat promos of them on the front.
Also it shows off the set's name, so is it technically a 2 pack?
I don't know, I'mma just consider Luffy as an accessory cause he ain't no SHF.
The top of the box has a signature straw hat cutout that every release in this line gets.
Here is each side of the box.
Here is the bottom of the box with a promo of Shanks looking pretty smug.
And then here is the back of the box.
Overall I'm really happy with the packaging, so let's now see how the set is.
And after opening it up and playing with it for a while, I've come to the conclusion
that this set is almost good.
And I know, what do you mean almost good?
Like bro are we looking at the same figure?
He looks peaked.
And you are right.
From a look standpoint, he does look peak and it actually has some great things going
with it.
But, this release is riddled with many poor design choices that I can't overlook.
But first, let's talk about some of the good.
He first looks amazing, like genuinely.
He's aesthetically really pleasing and looks like he was ripped straight from the series.
The proportions are fine and the finish on his figure looks really damn good.
And then, this is Shank's pre-time skip look, so his look and fit matches that well.
He still had a straw hat and they actually removed the claw marks from the hat because I think in the promos
They were on there
So it's good that they are gone as it wouldn't be accurate if so and then what's this a soft goods cape in the one piece line?
Finally, they finally listened and gave us a cloth goods cape and it works wonderfully
It has bendy wire in it so you can pose it how you see fit and it actually stays in place
Well, and it actually looks really fitting with this figure like it levels it up in my opinion
And then it is removable as it can plug in and out of his back, and it is in there securely.
So yeah, I am very happy with the cloth goods.
It's such a shame that all the previous releases had to suffer with the plastic ones, but at
least they are improving in that regard.
