I invite our registrar, Dr. T. Jayabarthi, to welcome the gathering and introduce the

deans and directors, faculty colleagues,
most important of all, dear students, parents and others,
good morning and welcome to VIT.
Today is a very happy day for all of us.
Congratulations students on getting admission
into your best
private institution in India. You can all be proud of yourselves for this achievement.
However, you cannot rest on your achievement. You have to continue achieving in college
for a better life thereafter. Next, I congratulate the parents for choosing VIT out of all the
thousands of higher educational institutions in India.
I believe that coming here to us for education is the best decision of your life for your
children.
Proof of this is the more than one lakh alumni of VIT well settled in life all over the world.
First and foremost, we all have gathered here for this occasion solely due to our beloved
Chancellor Dr. G. Vishwanathan.
We start this induction program with the blessings and best wishes of our Chancellor.
You may be aware that our Chancellor is also the founder of our institution which was established
in the year 1984.
He is a lawyer by education and was a successful politician and he became an educationist by
choice.
We started as a small college with just 180 students and three branches.
That we are now an institution with five campuses and more than 80,000 students and a top private
engineering institution in India is a testimony to our founder Chancellor's visionary leadership.
I consider myself very privileged to be working with him.

Now it is my proud privilege to introduce the other leaders of our institution.
Let me introduce our Vice President, Mr. Shankar Viswanathan.
Our Vice President, Mr. Shankar, is a widely travelled person with a keen interest in following
the best practices of world class institutions. He has solved many complex administrative
issues of our institution and is very particular about the maintenance of discipline on the
campus. Now let me introduce our Vice President.
Dr. G.V. Selvam.
Dr. Selvam is widely known for his people-friendly approach,
hard work, hospitality, and quick decision-making.
He was instrumental in introducing
new need-based programs like agriculture, law,
and architecture.
