Internet challenges are a big deal.
0:38
They influence millions of people.
0:40
people worldwide.
0:42
But what are these challenges do for your life.
0:45
When are we going to on.
0:49
But what if you were to look in the mirror and not
0:52
love who you are.
0:55
I used to experience that
0:56
for me to love myself.
0:59
I needed to be loved by someone else.
1:01
I needed to
1:03
have validation from others.
1:05
My confidence was
1:07
based on what people said about me.
1:11
I just wanted to be loved.
1:14
I was a young girl that grew up in the Bronx
1:25
without a dad and a single family home in the hood.
1:29
I love the Bronx.
1:30
I grew up on Mesa Avenue.
1:32
I went to school at the Bronx High School
1:34
for the Visual Arts.
1:36
My story is something.
1:37
I don't really know what it is,
1:39
but I know that I've been through it.
1:42
I sit here in the prayer room
1:43
and I pray for people I meet, my co-workers, customers, friends. Just
1:53
knowing that prayer is what helps, prayer is what fixes and changes things and if
2:01
we want things in this world to be better we gotta pray for one another.
2:07
Social media is just slowly killing us.
2:12
It is the biggest distraction in our lives.
2:15
We see what other people are doing and it really just takes time away from our lives.
2:21
Especially if we see people that are doing things that we want to do.
2:26
I see people who are traveling, people who are getting in the gym and losing weight,
2:31
people who are making a lot of money.
2:34
subconsciously. It makes me have low self-esteem, it makes me compare, and those
2:40
are things that God says for us not to do. We should never look at someone else's
2:46
life and think, I wish I was them. Because no matter what people post, no matter
2:52
what people show us that they're doing in their lives, it doesn't mean that
2:56
they're happy, it doesn't mean that their life is better than us. Because God
3:01
God called us to do different things.
3:04
When God created us, he created us in unique and divine ways and no destiny is the same
3:13
and that's a great thing.
3:15
I'm not a Beyonce because only Beyonce could be Beyonce and there's a lot of people that
3:21
want to be Beyonce because they see her life, they see the fame, but people don't see the
3:26
hard work and the dedication and all the time that it took to be that and to be great.
3:35
And it is day one of my no social media challenge because I've allowed all the distractions and
3:46
emotions and everything in this world to distance me and pull me away from God. And that's why I
3:54
I feel that this challenge is so necessary because I don't want to feel disconnected.
4:00
I don't want to feel how I feel right now.
4:04
So I need to focus on what matters the most and that is my relationship with God.
