What's up?
Hey, how are you? What's up?
What's up?
Hey, brother!
Are you new in the neighborhood?
Yes, we are from a neighborhood in another city.
Washington D.C.?
What?
You have a Redskins gorela.
D.C.
Yeah, we're from a neighborhood in DC.
But not like the CIA or something like that.
Buddy, you should try some of this crack.
It's a great idea.
A little crack would be wonderful right now.
What are you talking about?
You could sell it and save all that money for college.
With just one ounce, you'll get up to $100.
$100!
$100? Wow, that would help me pay for all my books and...
Yeah, I could help you pay for all your books and stuff.
$100 for the 11.
Wait, how much is it going to cost me?
Oh, for you, we have two trucks full of it, for free.
Free? That's fantastic. And remember, it's called Crack. Crack?
Yes, C-R-A-C-K, Crack.
Here's the beeper if you need more.
By the way, there's no future Martin Luther King Jr. type that we should know, right?
Until now, we have mainly talked about drug traffickers in Latin America and the governments
that support them.
But now, let's go to the other side of the wall to meet one of the most legendary drug
traffickers in the history of the United States.
A dealer so famous that a rapper stole his name.
Breway Rick Ross.
Ricky Donald Ross grew up in South Central Los Angeles.
I was raised by a single mother who worked as a concierge to support him and his brother.
The famous gang, the Cribs, ran their neighborhood, but Ricky never joined them.
He didn't like the life of a gang member.
He liked to play tennis.
Unfortunately, Rick Ross never learned to read, despite going to school all his life.
But how?
Well, in the education system in the United States, it can happen.
A kid has reading problems, but instead of helping him, they advance him to the next
school year.
Sometimes they say it's to not interrupt his socialization with kids his age, but
what it really is is now it's someone else's problem.
They did that to Rick Ross every year, so he finished high school with a diploma that
he couldn't read.
Because of that, Rick Ross couldn't get a sports scholarship and follow his dream
of a career as a tennis player.
