Elton John - Pinball Wizard (Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles 1975)
Elton closed his career-defining 1975 concerts at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles with this cover of The Who classic, which he had recently performed in the Ken Russell film Tommy. By the time the late October weekend was over, Elton had performed to over 110,000 people in the stadium and cemented his status as rock’s leading act of the era. Elton’s version of ‘Pinball Wizard’ has been a centerpiece of both his Red Piano residency in Las Vegas and his 2019 film Rocketman, where it takes the viewer through a whirlwind of mid-1970s concerts and costumes.
