okay so the next evolution in pinball
machines is solid state and that's we're
going to talk about now so in another
video we talked briefly about
electromechanical machines
solid state took over in 1975 so
little-known company called micro games
produced a machine pinball machine
called spirit of 76 that came out in
1975 and that used microchips or
solid-state microchips was the brain of
the machine to rather just using wires
relays switches to be able to control
the gameplay it moved to being on
microchips and the benefit this brought
was greater reliability more complex
gameplay and it basically was a more
reliable machine it also enabled you to
use alphanumeric displays I can see here
on our example April deluxe we've
actually got a score displayed they're
not on reals which is on
electromechanical games but you actually
had an electronic display on here so
it's quite an evolution in pinball
machines from the electromechanical area
era into solid-state and solid-state
went on through the rest of the 70s and
into the 80s and that only really
changed then in 1991 when we moved to
the DMD era of machines and I'll talk
you through the DMD era in another video
so that's solid-state if you're
wondering you know all about what they
were like oh this just cover off the top
game so I've got an example here April
deluxe this is actually the Le version
April deluxe was the prior version that
came out from this one the games like
xenon for example which a great speech
in it as well
games like sent all they're really still
quite desirable today so they're
normally kind of well-worn but with a
little bit of work you can sort of keep
those games going and there's some real
classics in there that collectors like
to buy
you
