Instead of being a call center, a scammer,
some Filipino victims of human trafficking in Myanmar were killed.
The worst part is that Filipinos are being tortured
until they can give a ransom of P300,000.
The front line of this news is Marian Enriquez.
In this video, you can see a woman who was stabbed by a few men in uniform.
This was taken by one of the female colleagues who was a victim of human trafficking in Myanmar.
Six Filipinos were beaten and strangled after being tortured by foreigners.
After several months of suffering, they were finally able to return to the Philippines with the help of the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission.
We are happy because we are home.
We thought we would never be able to go home.
Our family just borrowed money to go home.
The victims' story is that they had to go to work for 7,000 dollars or 300,000 pesos to be released by the syndicate.
Their calvary started when the victims applied for a job hiring in a telegram and Facebook group for Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators or POGO.
Their job promise as a customer sales representative in Thailand is that the salary is around 1,000 US dollars or 60,000 pesos.
But when it comes to that, they don't know that they will be transferred to Myanmar.
And instead of a call center agent, they will be made a scammer.
This is a love scam.
They will make these men fall in love with them.
Yes, that's right. Now, if they have fallen in love with you, they will slowly realize that you might want to invest in crypto.
to currency. So,
slowly until they pay
their victims.
They tried to back out
when they found out that that's how
they'll be paid. But here
they were asked for a ransom
to be released. And if
they can't be given, they'll be
tortured. The first day,
I was hit by a
tube on my head,
on different parts of my body,
and on my back, on my back.
The second day, every 30 minutes, when they asked if I had money, I was not there.
I was not on my side. I was not looking for anything.
That's when they beat me every 30 minutes.
There was a tube here, behind my chest.
Ten beatings.
The man who beat me was a Chinese man.
I was the first one who was beaten.
I was the first one who was cut off.
24 hours, they can't sit, there's no food, no sleep.
Every day they come in with a bag of tubes.
There are four other victims left in Myanmar.
They are among the six Filipinos who were told that our authorities still need to intervene.
The Department of Justice is now collecting the victims for the case build-up.
Paok also contacted Telco and Facebook to find out more about online human traffickers.
