১৯৪৭ সালে যেভাবে দু'ভাগ হয়েছিল কাশ্মীর | BBC Bangla

In October 1947, the soldiers of the border areas of Pakistan and Afghanistan were deployed to Kashmir.
They had a lot of weapons, but they were not that well equipped.
So, the troops of these soldiers attacked the Baramulla.
This Baramulla was a fortified city in the Kashmir region.
The warriors are on a Catholic mission and hospital.
According to BBC Radio, the warriors are also in the St. Joseph's Convent, like other buildings in Baramulla.
These patriotic warriors did not know any rules of modern warfare.
In 2003, Andrew Whitehead went to Kashmir to collect information about the 1947 incident.
The two survivors of the incident were Angela Brarania and Tom Dykes.
When they were attacked at St. Joseph's Convent, they were just under one year old.
Angela's mother was a doctor and Tom Dykes was a British family member.
His mother had come to the hospital to give birth to another child.
Angela said,
I saw some terrible people coming into the Dialtope.
They had guns in their hands and a beard on their face.
They were opening the door from the hands of the people who were being killed.
Tom Dykes also remembers the terrible experience of that day.
In his words, I could see the angry faces of the attackers through the door.
And the terrorists' nurses were in a corner, all wet.
I think I saw some of them in their clothes.
I don't know if they were injured.
Angela said, they were stabbing or shooting whoever they were finding.
And they were attacking the people sleeping in the hospital beds.
They were also attacking the local people.
These invaders were also carrying out a lot of terror in Baramulla.
One of the influential Sikh families of that city was the Bali.
The Sikh community was a big target of the invaders.
One of the Bali family members said,
There was a lot of terrorism in the city, everyone was running away.
Everyone had one thing in mind, to run away if you can.
A Sikh woman said,
they were supposed to take the Jubuti girls as well.
He said,
I had three sisters, they would take all of them,
in front of my eyes.
Then we couldn't find them anywhere.
This attack was carried out two months after the British invaded India.
The third-fourth of the population of Kashmir was Muslim,
but their leader was Hari Singh, a Hindu king.
He couldn't decide whether the Hindu would rule India
or the Muslim would rule Pakistan.
The ruler of that state was his son Karan Singh.
In the story of Karan Singh, after August 15, 1947, my father was immediately appointed as the ruler of the state.
Because he did not participate in any of India or Pakistan.
He wanted to keep the situation stable with the two countries.
The same process is the same for the upper class.
The upper class was involved in the process in the name of Pakistan and Islam.
The king was in a great mood and was ready to attack.
Karan Singh said,
At that time, you were in the capital of Kashmir, Srinagar.
