found along the seart highway in Alaska
Shell's case went cold for over four
decades leaving her family with
unanswered questions and deep grief
grief but in 2019 a breakthrough came
when genetic genealogy linked Donald
McQuade to the crime McQuade living in
Oregon at the time was arrested and
later convicted the DNA evidence was
crucial in solving this long unsolved
murder during the trial it was revealed
that Shelly had suffered severe injuries
and McQuade was found guilty of first
and second degree murder Donald McQuade
was sentenced to 50 years in prison
bringing a measure of Justice to Shell's
family although it took 46 years the
